Goodwood Revival 2012..
« on: 19 September 2012, 11:05:46 »

Just thought I'd start a thread with some Goodwood Revival stuff - was anyone else there this year?

We (the girlfriend and I, and a couple of friends) went down there for the Saturday & Sunday and had an absolutely fantastic time - although my legs and feet haven't recovered yet!

Tried to get pictures of the track action but we were there far too late both days to get close enough to a good spot on the track without hiking all the way round to the back somewhere (which would have been good, but I'm nowhere near fit enough for that!) but still managed a few decent pictures and a good number of decent shots of the static stuff.

I have to say if you haven't been - go! Either the Revival or Festival of Speed, both are great, but to see proper racing of classics is a real treat and the noise.. oh, the noise! Quite something else to hear barely silenced race cars of the 50s & 60s thundering round with nobody sparing the horses. Would have been nice if there was the full compliment of Cobras on the Saturday, but Martin Brundle saw fit to change the running order by ramming the Cobra he was driving into the back end of the Cobra that Gerhard Berger mangled last year!

Anyway.. some artsy pictures to whet the appetite - if anyone wants, I can upload more of the un-processed pictures of the Barry Sheene Memorial Cup race and or static cars that were there.

Thanks :) It took about 200 pictures of empty track to get those shots (well, and a few more that were decent but not 'let's spend time post processing these' worthy) ;D

Definitely agree with that - I did the FoS in 2008 I think and it was a great day out. Next year I might just do both..

Ahh.. I can almost smell the Castrol "R".

Gutted that it crept up on me this year and I missed it. :(

Oh yes, the smells! Standing on the bank by the track and waves of it would come over.. Wonderful stuff.

Definitely looking forward to next year - though I'm planning on losing a good deal of weight; all the walking has damn near killed me off! ;D

Oh yes, forgot to add.. I looked out of the hotel window on Sunday night (lovely hotel btw - Relaxinnz Angmering Manor; absolutely fantastic food, lovely staff and a lovely old building - although the wonky floors kept making me stagger around like a drunk person on a boat) to see this and wondered if Tunnie had followed me there:
