I never mentioned it when I moved to Churchill, I thought as it states GasBi-Fuel on the log book insurers would know ?? Dunno why I should think that ??  :-\ When asked by insurers ' has the car/engine been modified' ? I always answer no, ' engine modified = tuned' in my book... Oooops ! Wrong again...  :(

Update : 'Satisfactory Conclusion'.... Eventually. last Friday I e-mailed the company who carried out the safety check. They responded within a couple of hours asking if it was on a different registration number at the time of testing, as they had no record. I returned e-mail with details.

I also last Friday contacted by e-mail LPG UK giving them full details and copies of each page of the safety check. Phoned the tester yesterday and gave him the date of testing and sent copies of safety check. He said that as soon as he received the copies, if all was well with it, he could issue a certificate to LPG UK. for a payment of £12 + vat. He also told me that as the car was checked in May 2009 it was prior to the online register, and the certificate would have been given to the owner. He remembered because the cost at the time of testing was £98. but then in August the online register was implemented and testers had to pay £12 to LPG UK for the certificate and to include the vehicle on the register.

This morning received e-mail from LPG UK to tell me they had checked with the authorised tester and verified safety check, all was in order so if I sent the chassis No. they would add my miggy to the register.

Oh deep joy, now I can insure the old girl, and I've saved £13+...  :y Perhaps this may be useful to others.

I don't think you should have been charged the £12 - but then the whole LPG 'body' is a club to keep incompitent installers' income high.

I'm sure that pre-database safety checks were supposed to be put on the register FOC

Hello,
I e-mailed you earlier today immediately upon receipt of your e-mail, supplying the information you require.

I have checked continuously throughout the day to see if you have added my car to the register. As you are aware, you 'have not'.

Perhaps a small matter to yourselves, but I cannot insure my vehicle, therefore cannot drive it.

Are you regulated by any recognised authority ? As I would have thought this could be treated with some urgency as I made you aware of my situation.

Hopefully I will be mobile again tomorrow ? Let me assure you my disabled wife would be most grateful.

Regards.

Reply received at 8.22 this morning..

Dear Mr Xxxxxx

As in my previous email to you I was initially waiting on BPV for them to confirm with me.

They now have and you kindly provided your chassis. Therefore your car will be entered onto the register as soon as possible, 24 hours since my last email have not yet passed

I will email you confirmation

Best regards

Checked again whilst typing this :
Vehcile Register Search - BD XX XHM
This Vehicle ,  is not on the Register. Please follow the appropriate option below:
'Ah well'! 'Soon'...... perhaps ??

If a non registered car is entered into the uklpg web site, the pop up states certified cars will be updated for free.

There's no mention of a time limit though, but Christ, how long does it take to type a reg no. ?

Given any other car can be insured on the spot after a phone call, I'd say this is a fairly unacceptable situation tbh.

I might be contacting Bpv(or someone) for compensation myself. He should have updated his records, as I understand it?
