Hi. Just solved 1 problem (I hope) and another one starts up. Couple of days ago the radiator fan came on and now refuses to go off. Even after a couple of hours after the engine is switched off just turn the ignition on and the radiator fan kicks in even when the temp guage is reading zero. The radiator temperature sensor on the radiator was changed about 18 months ago when I was having overheating problems so I would not have thought it was that. Any body had a similar experience or any suggestions. Regards, keith.

having the same problems at the moment think mine is the rad switch seems the only thing that i havent checked so far woundered do i need to remove the rad to change it as access seems ltd

Thanks for the reply but it would be a big help if youcould pinpoint the exact location of the 2 components please. I know plenty about the coil pack and rocker cover because of the many problems with them but thats about it. Thanks, Keith.

dont know if this helps but on mine the rad switch is near the bottom of the rad nearside could only get to mine from under the car,near the rad drain tap . the relay is number 6 on mine its the black one they are in the box next to the battery . sorry about the spelling and punctuation but my lack of it seems to keep up seting others ? hope this helps

Hi.Been a while since i first posted this topic but i have had a few developments since first posting. I obtained a relay from a scrap  car which had no effect on the problem but i found that if I removed the connector from the bottom sensor on the radiator the fan stopped working so I was going to try to change that this weekend even though it was changed 2 years ago but before I got a chance to do that today the ignition key was removed from the ignition and the radiator fan kept on working until I removed the connector from the fan. I am wondering if it could be a cable that the insulation has sworn away and the cable is earthing but the fact that it continues working when the ignition is swithed off concerns me. I would appreciate any comments from anyone who has experienced this before as to what the problem could be.Thank you in anticipation. Keith.

had same problem as you on friday-what you need to do is undo the large loom connection down by the battery and spray it out with elecrical spray reconnect and job done :y while at it do all 3 of those connectors-I did-fine now :y

In my experience, its rarely the loom, and most likely the switch. I think you have gotten close to proving its the switch now.

Note that the switch has an 'Ident Code' stamped on it (normally on the hex bit where spanner would go). The replacement should have same ident code.

was only saying what it was with mine-changed sensor and problem was still there - in fact it got worse-main fans went off then other fan came on.But after cleaning main loom plugs all problems gone!!

When you switch the car off? How long? What does gauge read just as you pull up?

It seems very difficult to access the bottom sensor. Do you gain access from under the bonnet or from below the car and would you know the size of the socket required to remove it.
