Hi

The strange thing is, this did not happen until I was on my way home when the engine was already hot and had been running for about 20 or so minutes.

I have a friendly mechanic who has a head testing kit coming round later so I'll keep you up to date with the news.

Regards

DezB

Send him down here afterwards.Ive been told by lots of people that my head needs testing. :D ;D

Not sure it will work on a vintage head :D :D ;D

Oh Bu**er, that's the head gasket gone then.

In fact we didn't really need the testing kit, just by smelling the expansion tank it was obvious.  The distinct whiff of exhaust and petrol gasses were a give away.  This was confirmed with the blue testing liquid turning green in about 5 seconds...

A bit of a pain really as I have only just replaced the rocker cover gasket, cleaned the EGR Valve, fitted a new oil filter, changed the oil and even added a bottle of Molyslip just a fortnight ago!!!

Oh, well just have to start again....

Rubbish news, sorry to hear that.  I am still holding out hope mine has not gone, but it is dwindling fast!

Hi Phil

I'll let you know how it goes, the head is coming off tomorrow to go for skimming and I'm hoping that once it's all back together again she'll fly.

take care
