Non functioning aircon f/l V6
« on: 02 November 2012, 16:51:55 »

Everything works fine on the HVAC unit. The compressor doesn't clutch in. I had it regassed with no change so need a good fault finding procedure with voltages/resistances at relevant points to check through the system to identify the faulty component. It's currently depressurised so if the compressor is faulty I won't waste money or gas having it done twice.

Thanks

Anthony

Coouldn't work out from the description in the manual if there was a fuse for the aircon seperate from the rest of the Hvac unit. I've been used to units that have an aircon switch then relay then unit but as I couldn't find a relevant relay it all started to look different so figured it was better to ask.

Unplug connector and put 12V direct see if the clutch engages.

As Rob says - 12V across compressor terminals - you should hear clutch engage with a loud clunk.  Also check you have 12v at the connector plug to compressor.

Thanks

I get the idea. Quick question if I get back that far in the circuit. Do the relays click when they switch?
