So glad I inherited a VB6 Project a year ago. ::) A little longer for it to go properly obsolete and I would have never been exposed to the whole puss laden carbuncle that is VB6. :(

unfortunately I still have to do maintenance on projects written by me long years ago which is huge (over 100K lines)..

transferring them to new visual studio environment requires serious planning ,effort and time..  and I'm writing other projects also at the moment and I dont have those resources.. :-\   the only necessary thing at the moment is trip ups by microsoft >:(

In essence ...

Microsoft issued an update that was obviously untested in the "real world" as it did almost the opposite of it's intention, and major portions of the software ceased to function.

They then released a "fix" that totally fails to actually fix anything.

Independent programmers have worked out what the problem is and have released a set of manual instructions on the procedure to follow.

(why does this sound a bit like an omega owner with a problem going to a dealership before coming to OOF )    :)
