No windscreen vent
« on: 09 January 2013, 20:38:47 »

Hi guys, bit of help if I can?

Mini facelift 2.0 16V with electronic climate (CDX model). I cannot get the vents to alter from their position and the recirc appears to be not working. It goes click behind the dash when activated, and the speed alters slightly, but that is all. If you press the windscreen button, the fan speeds up, etc...., but the direction does not change.

Hot and cold work fine, a/c works, etc..... I also get the -- on the temp displays when turning the ignition off for about 2-3 seconds.

I have tried to do a reset using the Auto and Off buttons, but it just turns it all off and does nothing else, no matter how long you hold them for.

I did have the control panel apart to change all the lighting bulbs, would that have upset something?

It is getting dangerous now as I have no blow to the windscreen and it mists up quickly when driving down the road.

No worry, sussed it.

After taking the console apart, I reset it by disconnecting the plugs for a while, tried it again and it now allows me to do the normal reset procedure and everything appears to be working now  :y :y

Interesting as the same symptoms can occur when there as a VAC fault

All the pipes were okay, I made sure to check them before removing everything.

I could not move any of the actuators though, even the recirc was solid. Only thing I did notice this morning that I did not last night was that the heating was not actually doing anything in the way of hot or cold. The display moved, but the temperature was the same.

I would have though though that a vac pipe would not stop the system from trying to reset when the Auto and Off buttons are pressed? Mine was almost as if the module had freaked out. Only thing I have left is that when you turn the ignition off, you get the -- on each temperature display, but if you turn the clpimate off manually, it just switches straight off. not sure if it is meant to do this or not.

The two dashes signify that there are stored fault codes in the unit.  :y

Okay, how would I access these codes? Would they stay once the fault is fixed until cleared or autoclear?
