For sale / wanted sections
« on: 16 March 2008, 10:42:17 »

Might it be an idea to remove items that have been sold ( or supplied) once the deal has been done? This way the sections wouldn't run to so many pages and I wouldn't get all excited seeing something I want and scrolling down to find it already long gone  :'(

Peeps selling bits and bobs would also not send unneeded PMs for items no longer wanted

Just a thought ........

I agree, what we used to do on the Manta forum was edit our posts title to start with the word "delete" and the mods would then remove the entire post.

Sounds like a fair way to me....  Easy to delete a thread at the initial posters request if the header is modified asking so.  If IP puts a new post to the thread that would bump it back up and make the 'delete' request easily visible.

From memory we did not try to "bump" them back to the top as you could end up with the first ten or so posts all waiting to be deleted but looking like they where new posts if people misread the title as people do.

Fair comment...  Theres normally a mod/admin type person on here of some description covering the better spread of the day from morning to nightime, so would not see it as too onorous a task.  Plus, the 'DELETE' part would show in the header so that should alert any potential buyer accordingly?  Will see what the others think, but sounds workable to me....  ;)

Just a thought, instead of removing the thread how about a sales archive section, the thread could be handy in the case of a dispute, or if some one wants to see how a seller/buyer has conducted in the past before making a deal...

I shall return to my cornor now :)
