Zafira boot catch fault
« on: 24 January 2013, 21:21:30 »

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions, the car thinks the boot is open, door light on dash is on and boot light stays on.

Not sure how the catch actually works, any suggestions? Of where to start?

Presumably a switch somewhere, normally seperate from the catch on most cars

As above, probably a switch fault. Possibly located in the tailgate :y

Check that the latch mechanism hasn't worked loose and that the striker plate hasn't as well,if the tailgate is only single latching the light will stay on :y

Thanks all for the information.  Will have another look, couldn't easily see a little probe for the switch, so thought it was some clever internal thing in the lock. Door seems to closing okay, feels tight and no rattle when driving. Cheers

The switch is integrated into the tailgate latch assembly and is actuated by the locking catch.

Test it with the boot open using a screwdriver to latch the catch as this will prove if the switch is ok or not.

Not to hard to fix and you can simply replace the switch as its pretty freely available.
