What state are the slam panels in - that may be more than just replacing a few bits

I was thinking similar, although the lamp still seems to fit the wing well enough.

If you need a slam panel, try Dews at Brighouse. They had a few in stock when I bought mine from them a while ago following a similar conversastion with a lorry :-[

Was less than £30 new old stock :y digging the old one out takes a bit of patience though :-\

It cost me £700 to repair mine from similar damage, including £300 to get the car collected, slam panel welded in and returned, anothe £200 to paint the front end and £200 for both wings, bonnet, both headlights, radiator and condensor and fans.

If you have banged the bonnet hard enough then the slam panel will be bent :'( not the end of the world though, just need to be thorough in drilling all the spot welds out, 23 per side iirc :y if you already have the wings etc in the right colour, then you are already about £350 up :y

The bonnet folds up in two places. From pics yours has folded at the first one, about 8"-10" from the grill. (There's a couple of dimples on the side rails of the bonnet structure.)

Trouble is, as the bonnet folds up, it pulls the slam panel back with it :'(

The slam panel itself bends in two places... where the radiator frame is welded to a lip on the chassis leg, and at the outer ends where it meets the inner and outer wings, so might not be immediately obvious

Think its one of these... http://www.carpartsconnexion.com/vauxhall/partdetail.asp?dp=126537&f=Vauxhall&m=OMEGA&y=Any+year&cat=12&

Linky wrong ::) Slam panel pn 90563507. Part number based on your reg, £75. Dews don't have one in stock, but as he's practically next door, Andy C is probably your best bet :y

So am taking from the linky that mfl/pfl slam panel same as fl then,
Miss translated, this is the bumper bar, hence pre/mfl only :y

Also found this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Omega-Front-Panel-New-Genuine-9149707-/111001240141?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AVauxhall%7CModel%3AOmega&hash=item19d830824d

Local ish too :y

99% certain that they are the same for all Omega Bs.

If you're to do summat, best do it right :-[

A few pics of the damage from my conversation with a truck on the M6.

Airbags not deployed, not a scratch on the bumper and only one sidelight bulb not working.

You can see from the two side shots that the bonnet folds up quite neatly, but also pulls the slam panel back in the process. The other pics show how the slam panel folds up where it meets the wings and the chassis legs.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of the repair, but basically it was wings off, bumper off, clear all the broken bits back to the bagpipes, drill the spot welds and pull the slam panel off. A bit of tidying around the edges, weld new slam panel in and replace all the broken bits with less broken bits :y

wow did that work?  I've done something similar before but I used steel cable and a tirfor, it worked because of the mechanical advantage.  That was straightening out 12mm steel though.  You could get the mechanical advantage with your tree by using ropes and pulleys or just the very useful truckers hitch.

just pulled hand brake on,chocked the wheels, attached two ratchet straps and ratheted them till it looked right. well enough to get the bonnet to shut and both headlights to aim level, in the perfect world a new slam panel would be ideal but time and money.
 new s/h parts used
1 bonnet courtsey mr albitz  :y
1 irmesher grill courtsey mr serek  :y
1 air con condenser, replaced as bottem fell out when removed,-stock
1 radiator replaced as both upper mount lugs broken,-stock
1 headlight-stock
 1 bumber iron-stock
 1 aircon fan-stock.
so bit happer now it looks a bit better :)
