Having just got home last night I parked on the drive and went in doors.
Few minutes latter and I walked through the hall and noticed the hazards going on the car through the porch window.
Stuck my head out to see why and saw smoke billowing and paint bubbling........yes, the car was aflame!
I had an extinguisher upstairs so grabbed that, gave a squirt under the bonnet which quelled the smoke long enough to risk popping the bonnet, and I then managed to more or less get the engine fire out before the extinguisher ran out.
The bonnet lining was still on fire, and eventually dropped on to the engine, which reignited, which I again managed to control with buckets (well a large measuring jug) of water (and the remnants of the melon that was in it) until the fire brigade arrived and properly put it out.
Needless to say the omega is dead, but thankfully the drive is ok, as is the house, which if I hadn't have seen the hazards, or had an extinguisher, may not have been.
It's a 99 elite estate, is it worth claiming off insurance, or just scrapping it?
