Plenum Pipes
« on: 15 March 2013, 03:24:14 »

I have a 2000 2.5 petrol and its not even close to the performance of my old 2.6 im going to get a full service done on it and clean the breathers but looking at the pipes on the back of the plenum the two big ones have no clips on them and the smaller pipe on the left if your standing in front has got a split on the end and the one on the right is not pushed on all the way. I have tried to push it on fully but im not having much luck. Obviously an idiot at the garage has not put this back on properly and im wondering if the middle pipes have been put on the wrong way as ive read on here that it has happened before. How would i know if they are on the wrong way in simpleton terms? Also does any one no the part numbers so i can get replacements or are second hand good enough. tia Rik

As viewed from front of engine looking towards the windscreen.

Outer 2 large pipes go onto the "Y" shaped pipe to the breather chamber at back of engine.
Small Left hand pipe goes to the smaller pipe on the same metal breather box
Small Right hand pipe goes to the purge canister

Both the small pipes require only pushing on and dont need any clips etc
Both larger pipes are best held in place with a cable tie as looks neater and easier than a metal clip.

Make sure they are not trapped along their travel and if split wise replacing :y
