I'm going to need to take out a couple of centre consoles on the face lifts for a refurb,I had a look on how to do them no probs there..but what I need to know.are there any electrical conectors hidden under the console that could be broken as I lift them out. Second question..on the climate control/ hazard switch/boot release surround which I need to change also,can all the switches be carefully 'dug out' with a flat blade and is there any thing that needs any extra care taken. All comments will greatly apreciated...even the rude ones

one hidden I know is behind the long thick air tube above the steering column and if you dont remove it properly you will break it and dash will always make noise..

Thanks for the tips so far,I had taken a look at the 'how to' section and was now looking to see if there was any advice from members who had done this operation and experienced any unforseen problems not covered in the 'how to'  as I've heard that the hazard switch can be a bit of a problem,so that's the sort of stuff that I'm looking for,as I'm going to try and make this a 'pleasurable' experience rather than my usual bad tempered ranting session which usually ends up with me breaking it ....

Omega's are very well screwed together.  They come apart and go back together as they should, without and stupid plastic clips that snap if you breathe on them.

With regard the to radio surround, all of the switches and blanks can be pulled out from the front.  Very easy to get a finger behind once the radio is out.  The multiplug connectors that the switches plug into clip into the surround from behind, and they need to be released in a certain order as the release clips for one will be hiding behind another.

With regard to the gear surround, it is slide-locked into place at the front edge.  Once you have located and removed all the fixing screws, slide the whole thing forward and then gently lift the front edge up.  Then slide it back and and remove.  There are no cables or connectors attached to this panel.

That was one of the things that I had heard...what sort of problem am I likely  to have with it Rob?

Once you have removed the front of the hazard switch, you should see a flat tab top and bottom. Squeeze them towards the red part and pull the switch assembly out, definitely a three handed job

Two screws in the top corners of the radio hole, plus one behind the ashtray for the dash panel.

Centre console has two bolts under the cup holder, a hidden screw under the handbrake gaiter and two screws beneath the gearlever trim. Undo that lot, slide it forward an inch or so, squeeze your fingers forward through the gear lever hole to lift the front end of the panel so that it clears the console, and pull back swinging it past the hand brake as you go

once it all removed disconect the crappy traffic master system too from stereo harness if fitted and place it in the bag marked rubbish, it is now not in use in large parts of the country and will save on a tiny amount of wieght
