hi guys a mate of mine just got a 2.2 auto . its got a fault . its over revving  a lot of the time . thanks  :y :y

what do you mean by that james  :y :y

By that I mean air being introduced into the combustion process that's not being detected by the MAF sensor - for example, a disconnected vacuum pipe etc. An air leak somewhere basically.

Pulse the throttle from idle, you will likely hear the sucking in of air.  Get your ear down and you will be able to locate the approximate area.  Thankfully, not many areas it can come from on a desmond...if it was a V6..... ::)

I would look at the vacum pipes first.  If you have a smoker blowing smoke around the suspect areas while pulsing the throttle works a treat  :y
