Hi all,

General questions related to the battery and charging system on my 2.5TD

1. What should the voltage be across the battery posts with the engine at idle? (no electrical load)
2. What should the voltage be with fast idle, maybe 2000 rpm? or fast idle (no electrical load)
3. What should the voltage be with every eletrical on full load at idle
4. What should the voltage be with every eletrical on full load at 2000 rpm? or fast idle.

Thanks if anyone is able to help.

Yes it does, thanks very much :) Does that info apply to the TD as well?

I have 13.7 volts at idle with no load atm, is that ok in terms of output?

I will do some more testing and post up the numbers.

Update on my battery,

I disconnected it (negative first after all the satefy posts I read) and cleaned the terminals and the posts and then reattached and tightened it up nicely. I think it was loose one end before.

Did a 320 mile round trip over the weekend just gone and then measured the voltage.

Before on my 7 mile drive to work and back it was around 12.2-3, after this weekend it measured 12.67 so it is well and truely back.

Now it fires with 950cca again :) very pleased.

Thanks all for your helpful comments
