Thule roof rack
« on: 10 July 2013, 07:54:08 »

Just bought the Thule roof rack system 951 footpack. Will this damage the rubber seal at the top of the door frame where the footpack clamps onto the rain gutter? The roof rack will be on for about a week.

It should be fine the seal will just distort a little while the roof rack is on then after a day or two the seal will go back to normal.

Its the only design available. I have one, no problems here.

Tape the end caps for the bars on though, they fall off otherwise and the whistling gets worse.

The GM one is made by Thule, and should have rubber strips that fold under the clamp and then into the top of the door frame, if you look and feel under each door frame you will see a cut out slot under each one that tells you where the Rack Supports are suppose to be fitted.  ;)

I bought one off here, few years ago. Mainly cause it was listed 3 times and kept dropping the price to practically nothing. Had it off him in the end, went un-used for well over a year, but came in handy to transport cycles.

Well worth having one tucked away  :)
