One dead omega
« on: 03 August 2013, 19:33:10 »

Some may have spotted the mint CDX I was selling. Well the chap who came wanted it picked it up this morning and left a very happy chap with the car. An hour or so a lesser happy chap called to say it was making a strange noise and he was bringing it back, I said don't I will come to you in case of making whatever it was worse ! I drove 20 miles with tools etc and on arrival it was making a sound from the drivers head like a dry lifter. Guy was offered a full refund there and then and kindly offered to drive it back to my gaff, me taking responsibility for any further ( fully expected) damage, I knew it was now a breaker as I would gain nothing from further investment. Got near enough home till it just stopped running at some lights, no bang, crash or other noises. Rest of the journey via the aa.

It's a shame as it deserved to stay on the road and ran beautifully for 1000 miles for me but crap happens. Legally I could have said tough luck , sold as seen but my moral compass just doesn't point that way.

I am suspecting some form of oil supply problem rather than a belt issue but will find more clues as it gets broken down. Parts will be available on here first then the remnants on the bay.

Off for a beer now  :)

That is a beggar.

Good on you following your moral compass. Life owes you one now.

That could have been me. We were undecided whether to have yet another hire car or buy a known entity off the forum for use on our seemingly ever increasing trips back to the UK.
