As you prefer autos, another point to consider is the autobox - the 2.5 runs the AR25 box, and any significant power increase will screw the box - the solution is to fit the 3.0 lit box, AR35 box - obviously a cost implication
I think the AR25 would hold up reasonably well, unlike in chipped tractors, although there is a towing complication in this case.

Hence my comment ;)

I would suggest that you service the car first including the fuel filter as a part blocked filter will cause loss of power and performance. When was it last serviced?  check that the cars breathers are clear and there are no air leaks on the induction side of the engine. Chipping will give you a bit more performance but you will not be any better off with a pikey van on the back.

Sound advice. :y No point in messing about trying to tune it unless it's running absolutely tip-top first. I would add to that list checking the cam timing.

M Tech Opel tuning chip about £270. Ignition/fuelling map is adequate to restore performance after fitting diesel diff to a manual 2.5V6. But as others have said, make sure all serviceable items are serviced first with good quality parts to avoid disappointment

A new air filter, new spark plugs and spot on timing of the cams can transform a car that has steadily lost performance without being noticed.

Also worth checking the throttle cable adjustment to make sure it is still opening the throttles fully..........

I have the 3ltr cams in my 2.6 auto. I only feel the difference at the higher end.

I found similar with my old 2.5 which had 3.0 cams, most noticeable after 4k revs :y
