2.2 dti engine vacuum solenoids
« on: 29 August 2013, 20:49:00 »

Hi. Having looked at the vacuum system today to get to the bottom of a misfire around 1500rpm, on a 2.2 Dti Y22DTH engine, I tested the solenoids for EGR, boost and swirl flaps. And when vacuum is applied to the vac terminal with a hand pump, it makes a vibrating buzzing noise and vacuum is lost. Does this mean a k*******d solenoid or do they all do this?
Thankyou in advance.

Having tested with a mityvac, even when good, the solenoid does "flutter" a little through the vent with the filter at the bottom. I found one that only held 20" of vacuum. So I got another off a well known auction site.
