V6 exhaust downpipe nut size
« on: 08 September 2013, 13:50:03 »

Just torqued up my manifold to downpipe nuts. 16mm socket slipped round; so did 5/8" socket. Funny, I thought. How did I get them off? Sought a hexagon socket. Found one that fitted, did the job. It was labelled 15. I think it's a plug spanner. It's certainly not a 15mm socket.

From memory used a 16mm socket to remove/refit them on the Elite when I dropped them to swap autobox.

Get rid of the crap gm nut and replace with a m10 nut, springwasher and std washer, lots of copper slip on threads, then do them up tight. never had a problem or losse nuts, and when you need they undo easily as well.Welcome
