New Sony DAB Stereo
« on: 19 November 2013, 16:33:17 »

Well my 2006 had packed in and I wanted something with some more functionality. Being used to having to wire in ISO connectors in older cars it was pleasant to see an ISO block. I got the steering wheel control adaptors too - all in and working well BUT:

Stereo is loosing its settings on ignition off for more than a few seconds. I'm assuming here the yellow permanent live the head unit needs isn't being satisfied by the Vauxhall loom. Everything else works, so was thinking of taking a feed from the hazard switch to fix this!

Unless there is a standard fix on here?

Also noticed a hose delivering a cold air feed to the back of the old head-unit!

Yep, switched and permanent live feeds on the Omega are the other way round to most cars, so just need to swap these pins over in the ISO connector. :y

Yep, surprising the amount of heat that gets generated behind there

Update. Swapped red and yellow over and memory etc a.o.k. unfortunately steering wheel controls have now stopped working. Thinking I'll just give the lot a permanent live at this rate!

There's usually the facility to swap the leads over in the new radio loom... can plug both red and yellow to a common connection iirc :y

If it has one, press the reset button. They normally have one you need to poke with a paper/ hair clip on the front somewhere.

This reset should get the steerng wheel controls working again, used to get it quite abit on my Vectra after a flat batery

Thanks for the help all.

Now just a case of replacing the crappy windscreen mount dab aerial in due course. Turned out OK the new swapped way around, but the autotoffee steering control 3.5mm jack needed some rubber cleaving from it so it didn't slowly work it's way out. God knows why Sony placed an alloy shroud around the connector. Easy fix, and managed to get the colours matched. I know it's a novelty, but realise how much I'd come to use the steering controls.
