Water In Spark Plug Wells Omega 2002 2.2 CDX
« on: 11 November 2013, 14:17:08 »

Can anyone help?
Just driven 3 miles to local Tesco ....everything was fine.
Returned to car 30 mins later and it's running like a cyclinder is not firing. Limped home.
On removing the spark plug HT assembly I found all four spark plugs submerged in water.
1. The water is clean and smells like radiator water.
2. The radiator header tank is full.
3. Dipped the sump and no sign of water.
Many thanks,
Dave

Your Scuttle is leaking rain/washing water through the wiper stubs and the joint in the scuttle which is just above the ECOTEC cover  (and your plugs! :D). Have a look in the Maintenance Guide section for a fix :y

Classic water drained from the scuttle :y dry everything carefully and seal the scuttle as per the guide in the maintenace section :y

The water may well smell of coolant, but as long as it doesn't taste of it then all is well :y

As above. Clear silicone around base of wiper arms helps fix it  :y

Do the 2.2s have to be sealed around the same place as the V6? Cos if so I used the black CC gasket sealant to seal up the scuttle. works a treat!  :y

The scuttles are the same across the entire range :y

The V6s' issue is that it has two lots of plug wells to fill up ::)

CC gasket sealant is good. I smeared it on and smoothed it out. its still going strong after a year (I left scuttle on when doing all engine repair work)
