Gear Box
« on: 14 November 2013, 12:27:24 »

Hi
Could someone please help !
I got my 1996 2.5td omega chiped but due to the amount of torque  ;D the clutch is slipping. the clutch is not gone

i need to get a ceramic paddle clutch or if any one else knows of a different type of clutch that would be suitable.

what gear box is in my 2.5td and what other omega has the same clutch/gear box?

Thanks

I don't recall anyone else having clutch problems on a chipped TD, so would suggest that yours is probably just worn and a decent quality replacement would probably be fine. I'm no expert on the TD, though.

its not actually a standard chip i messed around with the injector pump it would be running at much higher torque than any remapping ive seen. the person who did it for me has a 2.5tds bmw drifting which has the same engine and is up at 250bhp he had to put in a paddle clutch as the standard wouldnt grip. but mine is around the 200 mark and i need a paddle clutch. my clutch inst that old and is definitely not gone

yup high torque is a clutch killer as i found out, however first off a 3 litre clutch plate fits perfectly and is bigger it eventually became td standard fit  :y take it you have the larger one in there? if yes then you can get organic clutches which are 30percent uprated from standard, but i no longer have the part number since i uprgraded to windows 7 and my favourites didnt carry over :'( pretty sure a search for bmw uprated clutches would sort you though as its bmw engine and box,
let us know how you got on!
