I remember in 1986 I briefly had a 1 year old company 1.8 SRi hatchback.
It was like a rocket on rails at 130 mph, and just was a pleasure to drive. The company then decided that I should have a brand new Carlton 2.0 GL, which was good but so boring after the SRi!!

Far too quick for a 'mere woman'.

Surely they could have sourced you a Hillman Imp or a sedate old Humber, Lizzie.
Far more fitting for someone of the female gender.
Now that I would have loved Opti!

Super Snipe or Imperial, Lizzie?
I can almost detect the aroma of the finest leather and wood as I type this.

Super Snipe everytime!

Ah, a Super Snipe girl. I thought as much.

But a 1957 MkIV, with the bench seats front as well as rear!

Being much younger than yourself, I'm only familiar with the Humbers from the sixties, Lizzie.

I'd need to google a 1957 MkIV.

These were outwardly very similar to the Humber Hawk, which I drove when very young!!  My future father in law owned that one, until I busted it, but always wanted a Super Snipe.  Instead after the Hawk he bought a 1962 Austin Westminster and it was a fabulous drive!

Yep...I certainly recall the 'Westminster'......3 litre straight six if memory serves.

Austin had a habit of naming their cars after english counties way back then.
Austin Somerset and Devon come to mind.
