Nokia N800 - locked
« on: 15 January 2014, 22:55:52 »

I've got an old Nokia N800 internet tablet, haven't used it for years.

I've forgotten the security code and cant get into it.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm quite happy to have a total reset done on it if that would help - there is no data on it that I want to keep.

Thanks

A lot of tablets have a small hole to insert a pin to carry out a reset, not sure about that one though ::)

Not sure if this helps?

Text below has been added by Nokia:

Important information from the official N8 FAQ

You should not use the "three finger" reset (pressing volume down + camera key + menu key and pressing power button) to hard reset the Nokia N8-00 device. Doing this will delete some applications (Ovi Store, Ovi Maps, some preinstalled widgets) which cannot be restored.

If the device needs to be reset, try the following methods instead of the "three finger" reset:
1.Press down the power button for 8 seconds.
2.Restore the factory settings by selecting Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings > Restore.

The "three finger" reset should be used only as a last resort if the device cannot be booted up in any other way.

If successful, the device can be used after the reset but some of the applications are missing. The device needs to be taken to a Nokia Care point for reflashing to get the original applications back in the device.

I'd seen this also - but it assumes that you have got past the PIN code!  :'(

Is it a 4 digit PIN? Do you get a set number of attempts before it locks you out?

Not convinced doing a reset on the Nokia is going to reset the Lock Code to default (12345 from memory), plus cant see how you can reset it with out getting into it.

Reckon your only real option, apart from a Un Lock shop doing a Re flash and probably turning the phone into a brick is, get in touch with the Network or Airtime Provider that the phone came from and ask them to get an unlock code from Nokia for your phone, or contact Nokia directly (proof of Ownership and all that) for the code.

Note: If you lose the device lock code, you must take the device to a Nokia authorized service facility. To unlock the device, the software must be reloaded, and all data you have saved in the device may be lost.

That's from the manual.
