At least with the train she can use the time to catch up with work, read etc.

The biggest problem is all too regularly the journey takes much longer than it should due to delays and missed connections. Generally, I find train travel when it involves several changes normally much slower than using a car.

With Wakefield being a mahoosive central hub, there are no changes, straight through.  ::)

The alternative would be 6-7 hours in a car, for such trips the train works well used to regularly do Nottingham to Exeter day trips.

That especially applies in this corner of the world... point to point journey times are pretty much identical, eg Horsham to Gatwick takes 20 minutes on the train, and 20 minutes by car. The key difference being that the car is door to door, whereas the train is not, so buy the time you have factored in getting to and from the station, plus connection times, the actually door to door journey takes alot longer than going by car. The only notable exception is if your heading into London :-\

What he's hoping you won't notice, is that he does the shopping online between football results and the horse racing, and Asda deliver it. ;D

She has just left Temple Meads and will arrive in Wakefield at ten to eight. Chinese take away on the way back from the station I think. :y
