I had trouble with wireless connection , not downstairs but upstairs or anywhere more than say 20ft away from old router . New router today that came Huawei HG533 Router working excellent . TTalk are saying its the best on the market  Early days yet but after 3 replacement routers this one seems to be the ONE

Huawei HG533 Known Issues

Here is the list of Known Issues with the Huawei HG533. These faults are known to QA and Labs and do not need to be reported.

1.WLAN is shown as 130/135Mbps reported by Windows and inSSIDer shows single smaller bandwidth indicating operation in 20MHz mode only
2.Custom UI becomes unresponsive intermittently
3.Intermittent loss of wireless connectivity has been witnessed in testing
4.Username field on Connection page of router UI does not support ASCII special characters
5.Password field on Connection page of router UI does not support ASCII special characters
6.When a fibre (WAN) line is connected accessing the UI brings up the Connection page
7.Poor peformance seen with upload file transfers with the Netgear WN111v2 adapter
8.Multiple download file transfer throughput poor when used with a Realtek RTL8191SE adapter
9.The error seconds on the custom UI ADSL (sync) Summary page is not working
10.The USB Samba function will not work on Windows system without changes in the operating system security policy or registry.

11.On the Fibre connection page, in the bottom paragraph, the word Advance should be Advanced

12. There is a typo on the Advanced UI>Advanced>USB Port page. The setting Right: should be          Rights:

Its a pretty middle-of-the-road low cost router, aimed at the ISP market. As such, overall, its pretty poor overall, but if it meets your needs, all well and good.

Ignore what your ISP says about how good it is, they are all full of shit. BT have been constantly calling me over the last 2 yrs telling me to migrate to their Infinity, as they guarantee they will be faster, because their (then) Homehub3 (also made by Huawei) had superior wireless capability. We all know the HH3 is, as an ISP supplied bit of kit, quite poor in capabilities and stability.

Oh, and the fun I had with BT, when asking how they knew they would be faster, without knowing what I had...  ...and that I had a stackful of HH3's, that I didn't use due to poor wifi performance and some features not working.
