cheaper from germany
« on: 08 February 2014, 12:34:24 »

enquired the other day about the cost of shipping 4 17" alloys and it was 56 euros (£46.50) which is not far off what most uk sellers charge within the UK.
This got me thinking about tyres,eg 4x 235/45/17 hankook s1 evo2 ebay.de 400 euro + 50 shipping
£375 total and the same tyres at camskill are £398 total.
Granted not a huge price difference but factor in the cost of shipping from germany and it shows the uk motorist is being ripped off as usual.

Interesting, so do they then add VAT at their rate or is this added when it gets shipped over.

If anyone is in the Chelmsford area, I would thoroughly recommend
Jus-Tyres
Unit 27, Cromar Way,
Waterhouse Business Park,
Chelmsford, Essex
CM1 2QE
07877776725

Last September, in a hurry pre-MOT, I bought a part-worn 225/55/R16 from them, all inclusive, for £25 - and it was mint, hardly used at all! It was intended merely as a quick and cheap fix for the MOT, but I am happy enough to leave it on until it wears out.
They inspect every tyre for possible sidewall scuffs and damage, etc. and are extremely helpful.
Obviously, I have mo connection with the company except for being a satisfied customer.

Ron.

New.  ;)  Here's the link, but if it would be worth doing once you add shipping and fitting, is anyone's guess!  :-\

I used to drive to Germany regularly.  I never thought about buying tyres there!  ::)
