advice needed
« on: 10 February 2014, 09:15:53 »

I’m prepared to be shot down in flames but here goes:
I registered on behalf of my Dad who has finally, thank God, decided to stop driving. He’s 82 this year.
I just want some advice on the best place to sell his car

Webuyanycar is a joke. Is ebay the best way to go? sell to a breakers? Something else? Any advice would be appreciated and apologies is I have broken any rules. I’m just trying to do the best for my Dad.

Dents in every panel.

Sounds worth very little.

Not dented would be worth selling, as it is you will be lucky to get much.

Sorry, no ads, hope you understand. Normally they get completely nuked, but in this case, I'll happily answer the query about where is best.

Low spec, many dents, its actually not worth much at all. If decent tax and test left, ebay or autotrader may pick up somebody who wants a reliable, comfy runaround for a few months for throwaway money. Other than that, probably worth around £170 in scrap.

Sorry its not good news for your dad  :'(

If its of any help then I'll recount this recent (i.e yesterday) experience a pal of mine had with webuyanycar .....

The value on line was £1200 - however, on inspection they pointed out many minor dents which were all over the car. Seems almost every panel had one. To be fair they were looking for damage to panels as opposed to the number of dents - so that a panel with 2 or more dents wouldn't carry any greater a penalty than a panel with a singe dent.

The upshot was a best and final offer of £550.

This was on a '57 Plate Chevy/Deawoo thing - it had been totally neglected.

So there you go, some hard facts .........

What about Gumtree? I sold my Golf in a few hours on there and made a nice profit on it. :y
