A pm sent at 8.15 saw the alert arrive at, well, just now. 00.18

not bothered, but thought admin would like to know. If aware, please ignore.

No known problems (with email) this end, and all mail leaves the system within a few minutes (we do throttle outgoing mail in order not to piss off your ISPs too much).

I'd be complaining to your email provider, it may be they had a fault, or were doing some maintenence (Internet email is designed to be tolerant of mails servers being unavailable by queuing mail until it could be forwarded). If you can view the email on a proper email client (not Apple's), you can normally see where the delay was.
