Most modern trucks are dbw, so no such obvious fiddles now, also alot trucks have a hypothetical geared max speed of 68-75... optimum cruise speed of 56mph... no coincidence with emission laws nowadays ::)

Guessing that was a single carriageway stretch with those limits :-\

Basic physics Mike ::) limited at 56mph actual... gravity might allow a true road speed of 60mph.

To overtake cleanly you need to do at least 10% more, so that's 6mph as a minimum so possibly as high as 65-66mph actual speed.

At an indicated 70mph, I would be surprised if your car, or most anyones for that matter, was doing more than 65mph actual.

Trucks cannot be driven faster than the limiters allow. Full stop. Every truck travelling at more than the limited speed is at the mercy of gravity. Not magic.

Best bet, set your cruise control to an indicated 75mph. You won't be speeding, and you will be ahead of the trucks :y

You want to try travelling on the M62 going towards Liverpool on the dowhill section from jct 22 to 21. Too much traffic to do 75 in any lane and if you're in the middle lane you'll have a HGV right up your chuff at speeds of 65 to 70

Used to go up that stretch at 70 in my old Leyland in the days before limiters.

Re read that with emphasis on indicated speed and actual speed.  You aren't travelling as fast as you think you are :y

On a old analogue tacho then yes 60+ down hill possible on a digital it tells you your over speeding and you must slow down or it pings up overspeed and the next time you down load your card it will show up and if your unlucky the man in the chequered hat or vosa get there paws your card your getting a fine.
HGV's should be able to do 65 on a motorway the same as a bus and ban the blue rinse brigade.
Another bit of useless info passengers on a bus are classed as live stock ;D
