Better dig out the earplugs.
« on: 19 March 2014, 14:18:00 »

Driving a landy 110 from Fife to Dagenham tomorrow. It's in XS trim so at least it's got a radio and carpeting in the back to deaden the diff whine at motorway speeds and seats in the rear so able to adjust drivers seat properly.

Glad it's not a farmer basic 90 with absolutely no concession to comfort!

Being a Defender, can you not take a more direct off road route?  :D

If you need a brew, give me a call.  Although the silence of Brackley may be disconcerting after 400 miles in a Defender ;D

Will see how the time goes.  Forecast is for wet most of the way so motorway speeds will probably be a bit lower.... :-X :)

Maybe if you didn't drive it at 110mph it wouldn't be so noisy? ;D ;D ;D

My teeth are perfect, I'll have you know.

Plastic, but perfect.

...... and hoping the bumpy ride will render cream superfluous!!  ;)

You need to grow a pair, i used to regularly drive from Hertford to Durham and back each weekend in a Series III, can't get much more basic than that........ :D :D

That said, I was much younger, and would I do it now? no chance, wouldnt even do that regularly in the Jeep....... :D :D

I think the XS will have heated seats so no cream needed.  should bowl along at 60 quite comfortably but anything more than that gets a bit rough.

you'll need a credit card for fuel though - at least one tank needed for 400 miles

as to the previous post, yes they have the tranny lump in but the 2.2 is much more quiet than the 2.4 so the latest 110 is more refined than the 2.4

Drove one last year (LR Experience), didn't like it, not a patch on the TD5
