So I watched the 'debate' on the EU on the BBC earlier and to be honest I didn't think either of them were particularly impressive.  :-\

However for me Farage shaded it, as at least he attempted to answer the questions, whereas Clegg continually twisted things to discredit Farage.  I'd have been more impressed if he had argued the case for Britain in the EU rather than continually trying to paint Farage as an isolationist and a friend of Vladimir Putin.  ::)

I agree. I think Cleggie was repetitive and a lot of his criticisms a bit weak/fell flat. eg. If Farage is UK tax payer funded who else pays Clegg?

Yes. Negativity is what you resort to when your own arguments don't bear scrutiny.

68% poll win for Farage according to the YouGov poll; a big leap on from his 50-odd% majority on the LBC debate last week. More importantly, there was a staggering DROP of 9 points for Corporal Clegg after tonight's performance. Farage might want to take things too far, but Clegg doesn't want to take them far enough (if anywhere). And no one believes a word he says after the U-turn on tuition fees.

Whichever way you look at it, whatever side of the fence you sit on, it was a clear victory for UKIP.

I thought OOF was a UKIP stronghold?!  :o ;D

Clegg's unblinking camera stare and his contrived 'passion' (following criticism of a lack thereof) are such a turn off to the viewer. He's so transparent (not in a good way) and really hasn't come across well ever since signing up to the coalition. Still, he's condemned the Liberals to a century of voter resistance so I guess he'll have plenty of time to work on his pitch!

Credit to them both for having the discussion - let hope the other leader give it a go :-)

I can't see that happening. Too much to lose for both Cameron and Milliband. Clegg is only on there as a last ditch attempt to prop up his ratings before he is out of ego trip at the next election.

I have to smile at Clegg saying Britain would have to renegotiate new trade deals, perhaps but five minutes with some Tippex changing existing treaties - Great Britain for EU and then fax it over for signature. Next stumbling block?

Cleggy got sent in by Cameron. Sound out Farrage, see what his latest line is, give yourself time to sort a response of your own and hope to go in for the kill at a later date.

Naive of Farrage IMO.

Where was the Prime minister anyway? And Pit the Younger...?
