What power steering fluid do I need
« on: 26 May 2014, 18:53:36 »

I need to top up my power steering fluid with Dextron. My questions are.

Do I use Dextron III or II?

Do I use Dextron mineral based or should I use semi or fully synthetic instead, What one is the correct one for my car?

Thanks

Looks like Dexron II is mineral based only.  :y

Is it best to use VX or will any brand do?

So it will have to be another brand. Anyone here used, Fuchs TITAN ATF 3000 Multipurpose Dexron II ATF and is it any good?

Only thing to consider with pas fluid, afaik, is a TIS entry stating Dex 2 was superceded by Dex 3. But downgraded to Dex 2 again due to leaking pas pipes.

If it wasn't for that I'm sure Dex 3 would be fine.

Pas fluid is not highly stressed or high performance so any Dex 2 should will be ok. Indeed any Dexron designated fluid should meet the same standard. Regardless of manufacturer.

Although, having said that, I wouldn't use that Coma shite. But that's just me.

The omega was originally spec to use dex2 in the gearbox and pas. Dex 3 seems to leak when put in the pas, why don't know,
i use shell donax in mine, its a dex 2, for hd applications, :)

I'll go with the Fuchs TITAN ATF 3000 Multipurpose Dexron II ATF and give it a fluid change when I'm at it. As much as possible anyway.  :y

Thanks all for your help and advice.  :y
