Just had news that my brother in law has stage 3 Colon cancer.

Seems that he has been passing blood in his poo and doctor kept fobbing him off with its piles or your diet is wrong.

He has had hard stools for a number of years (same condition wife suffers from) and just accepted it,and with doctor saying its nothing to worry about he got on with life.

Just had a biopsy and looks like its a poo bag for the rest of his life.

Philippines not having NHS its down to him to pay,or a family member with Money.

Normaly id bend over backwards to help (as we did for sister in law when she had terminal cancer)...but cant stand the bloke and told Gemma to tell him no way were helping him as he punched my wife couple of years back and I always said I would end his life when I returned...looks like fate has done it for me.

This, without going into too many details, is why I've been back to the GP four times this year and have finally got them to refer me to the hospital for further tests.. I've been repeatedly told "It's just piles" or "It's just a tear" or "You're too young to have to worry about anything else".. But this started in February and is still going on, so..

I will never forget that it took the docs 4 years to diagnose me with crohn's.  In the meantime my health and my career literally went down the poohole.

If something aint right, pester them until you are a pain in the arse (pun intended) and it gets sorted.

My uncle was fobbed off with pains in his hips as arthritis...wasn't until he presented at A+E because he was passing blood instead of urine they decided to do tests. It was found he had 3rd stage cancer and basically was given 18 months to live and that was about 16 months ago....if you have a problem has guffer has said keep pestering until they do something for you

As a general rule if the blood in your stools is bright red there is usually little to worry about.

If it is excessively dark, or worse still black, then it may be worth a trip to the doctor.


PS.....I am a  genuine doctor but don't bring your bowel problems to my door.

My wifes pooh was hard to pass, she went to doctors and he told her to stop taking a drug she was on called Naproxen.... apparently she was only supposed to be taking it for a couple of months, she had been taking it for 4 years and it had basically rotted her stomach-wall away.... no other tests have been done but now she has horrible constipation where she has to take laxatives at least 5 times a week just to 'go'... been the doctors and all he says is keep taking the laxatives... I want her to go a different doctor but she wont...

Fickin GPs. My mate was being prescribed something for indigestion for years, turned out to be pancreatic cancer.
I think I would know if I had something seriously wrong with me, and my doctor would certainly get a mouthful if he didnt take me seriously.
