Tech 2
« on: 23 June 2008, 16:39:37 »

From what i understand tech 2 is an expensive bit of kit and only trained people would be able to use it.... However i have found them for sale on ebay for £20-£30!!! Is this the cost of a tech 2?? would you be able to do all the same stuff you could if you took car to vaux, i.e. activate cruise control or some like.

Heres the auction llink.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Opel-tech-2-OBD-Diagnostic-CAR-Code-Reader-PC_W0QQitemZ260252389369QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260252389369&_trkparms=72%3A636%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1308

These aren't a real Tech-2. they just offer some of the functionality (sometimes!)

Pic of a proper one...

Apperently they can be useful. There was a thread here last week on them. Prehaps try using the search facility.  :y

the ebay tech2's are essentially only code readers and resetters -- still can save a few peennies when needed-- even the genuine article (couple of grands worth) is only as good as its operator!

The cheapo Tech2 is normally the Hungarian software one (though some sellers have started labelling OBDII ones as tech2).  None are like real tech2

The Hungarian one can read and reset most stuff, but nothing else. No programming or reconfiguring.

Real Tech2 is around £1500 - £2000 second hand and around $6000 new. Plus the TIS2000 subscription...
