Well this mornings diagnostics wasn't a big success as the diagnostic connector is so corroded some of the pins had vanished! Next challenge is to work out what connector it is and replace!
Probably going to be an RS232 Serial.

Yes sure it is RS232, its the physical plug I've got the problem with thought:





Any thoughts on what it is / where i can get one?

Are they male or female pins, difficult to see from the pics, I may have some males kicking around somewhere, depends on the size.

You can push the pins out (backwards from the back of the plug), just need a small screwdriver to push in the slotted stay which you can see that's holding the actual pin in.
