Red capped key chip
« on: 19 June 2015, 17:03:21 »

Hi all, can anyone tell me how to remove the key chip from a Fiesta ignition key with a red cap? I have viewed the net and seen a video of how to do it with a blue cap which seems straight forward. however the red cap one seems to be bonded to the fob I have tried to remove it with a fine blade but it does not want to budge I do not want to force it in case I damage the chip.

TIA
Tony

Are you going to transfer the chip to a new key? If so, gently file the top of the cap off, until you can prise the rest of it out of the hole. The chip should then just fall out.
