Paid a fortune for a Bosch Fridge freezer once..........never again ! My cheap Beko jobbie has outlasted it five-fold !
Get a fridge for keeping things chilled and a freezer for keeping things frozen... Putting both in the same box is always a compromise...

Besides the Automotive items are made in a different place to the fridge freezers, so you should be fine ;)  Unless you can find a Beko MAF to try ;D

What's wrong with Lucas ?

Has a 3 year warranty and been making electrical components since they were invented !
Has anyone ever known anything electrical made by Lucas to last ;D

I've not found Bosch components to be any more reliable than Lucas ones. Often they're not rebuildable, and they always cost more. As a mate says of his Audi If it's got Bosch on it, it will go wrong!

Generally, Bosch, ECU wise, seem pretty good. Ignoring the post 1998 Bosch ABS unit, how many ECU failures do we see on Omegas for example?

Mrs TB works in warranty for a manufacturer that uses both Bosch and Lucas. I'll ask her.

A big issue Audi have is people rather around with VAG-COM - one reason now that they keep a database of every car's config and reapply it every time they see it.

Senators had a flap and carbon track relay air flow sensors, primitive, they never failed on me. Omegas all have MAF sensors with no moving parts, don't know how they work, but they should be more reliable. On the earlier PFL Omegas they appear to be OK, but the later facelift ones give trouble. Why so?

Around 25yrs ago, airflow sensors went from a flap on a variable resistor to a hot wire setup. The hot wire should be more reliable, and is more accurate as it more effectively measures the mass of air.

I don't know, but I suspect attempts to make components cheaper are likely to be behind it.

I've matched the Bosch part (2.6 one) to a transit van, fitted el-cheapo 35 quid MAF with great success. I'm not saying this will work for everyone, I may have just been lucky.

One thing I've considered in the past and someone will be able to correct me if it's crap. The 2.5 MAF is 3 pin, the 2.6 is 4 pin. The difference is the IAT is built into the 2.6 MAF. Why couldn't you retro fit a 2.5 IAT and MAF and swap the plugs over?

EDIT

If someone can tell me how to check the MAF, I have at least one Bosch 2.6 MAF lying around. I just don't want to sell a duff part.

Out of interest, what makes you think it's the MAF? As air leaks could cause this code.
