Help ! ABS on SWMBOs corsa or not ?
« on: 13 September 2015, 10:26:51 »

 Hi  all
got a wheel cylinder leaking on SWMBO's '03  1.2 Sxi corsa. Am replacing the cylinder & the shoes . But it seems there are two types of  cylinder & two types of shoes . . . . . ABS &  non ABS  .  No ABS badge on the car so presuming Non ABS   but  how do I confirm for sure which system is fitted ?

Wheel cylinder type is easy to identify as either 1 bolt or 2 bolt fixing, so I know that it is the 1 bolt type.

Master cylinder is Delphi if that helps  . . . any info or help greatly appriciated :y :y :y

if you turn ignition on you should have abs light on dash, other way look under car where drums are and see if there any wires near drum then you will know what type you have

Thank you Serek . . . no ABS light when ignition switched on  &  no wires going to rear drums. So non ABS   :y :y

Also much cheaper shoes for non ABS  ;) ;)

I would have checked under the bonnet for the ABS valve block/pump, but I'm glad you've sorted it out!

Umm ?    right Nick there is a small block with brake pipes going to it  . . . but nothing as large as the omega ABS unit with the  ABS  ECU fixed to it though . :-\

Be prepared for some more questions on the corsa  . . .  got some power steering queries coming up  ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

If we are talking Corsa B's, fairly sure ABS was only fitted on the 1.6 and GSi's, if fitted the ABS unit is quiet big, about the same size as on the Omega, located where you would normally expect to find the battery, NS Front.

Corsa C  Chris  . . .2003  1.2 Sxi   :y     I think the Corsa C with ABS brake shoes are the 45mm wide ones  .  .where as non ABS are only 28mm wide  . . .as they are on this one  . . . so have ordered non ABS ::) ::)   we'll see when I collect them tomorrow

The block you describe is just a manifold which is located where the ABS module would sit, the Corsa you have is right on the change over point where they all got ABS.
