Removing doors
« on: 28 November 2015, 11:08:59 »

I've found a good drivers door in a scrappy as the bottom edge of mine is very scratty.

How's the easiest way of removing the pins on the hinges - I don't want to make an easy job difficult.

Also as mine is pfl and this door is a off fl how's best to change the bump side trip.

Thanks in advance

You might find that the hinges are spaced differently... Measure both cars carefully before committing.

You'll also need to swap the loom over from your old door to the new one, a job best done off the car.

Removing/refitting door is as you suggest but be aware that they are heavy.

FL trims have a screw each end then simply slide off. PFL ones are screwed each end and stuck on so good luck removing without bending...

I changed all four doors on my pfl estate to doors from a facelift. Only difference i found is that the hole where the wiring loom enters the door is a little bigger on fl. And there are a couple of extra holes for the fl door strip. But they will be covered by the pfl strip anyway. I used a heatgun to warm up the old doorstrips to soften up the glue before removing. I found it easyer to install the wiring loom in the new door after i attached it to the car. Less likely to scratch the paintwork. As for the doorpins there are a specialist tool for that. But i just used a pair of pliers to hold the Edge of the pin and a hammer to hit the pliers.

Body connector on the front door looms are a pig to access in situ... if you only locate one thing before fitting the door make sure it is the socket on the front inside edge of the door ;)
