A yet you bought the Zafira ::) but I suspect that even that, with all its foibles, still raises a smile or two ;)

That truly is a shitbox.  Even if it went properly, I suspect I'd still struggle to find nice things to say about it.

There's nothing wrong with slow cars.  I reckon you can have more fun with slower cars, as every corner, stop and pull away matters.

Focus excepted, obviously, because they are simply too unpredictable.

Even on perished budget rubber, I have found it surefooted enough :-\

Granted, haven't really been trying due, in part, to the tyres, but it keeps up well enough ;)

I've yet to drive one that is, even fresh out of the factory.  And I've driven a shit load.

Could be the extra weight of the boot that helps :-\ that said this is only the second focus I have ever driven, previous one was a left hooked 1.6 estate...

... And being a hire car, was clearly the fastest thing on Mallorca :-X

It's the multi-link rear suspension which is supposed to help steer the car. Instead, everyone I've tried feels just like a Cortina(or Sunbeam, Avenger, Dolomite, Fiat, Mustang etc) with knackered void bushes; the back of the car squirms about unpredictably, rather than accurately following the front. The crashingly hard ride doesn't help with this. The 1.8 isn't slow if you really wring it out, but who wants that in a family hatchback?
