Drill and tapping required, Teesside?
« on: 02 July 2016, 20:33:17 »

...restoring another 190 and ive managed everything so far, except one bloody brake bleed nipple. Despite my best efforts with a grinder, a six sided socket, and a bloody big hammer, the little bleeder (shute your faces) still sheared.
Anyone in the vicinity of Teesside fancy helping an OOFer out for a reasonable fee... or any recommendations?

I'll do timing belts, subframe removals, make my owm brake pipes... but if I cock up my first attempt, my lovely original Merc caliper will be scrap and I'll have to get a new one. And I'm already on first name terms with the young parts lady at Mercedes Teesside. .. (Opti would approve)

Noooo! Use a drill to drill it out then blind tap it, and can we see evidence of the hottie at Mercedes.

He did say he doesn't want to make things worse!

A left hand drillbit  might be a good idea, but your best bet would be to find an engineering firm to do it for you

Had the same with all 4 calipers on my 190. Tried drilling them out etc. but in the end, it was easier to just buy god second hand ca;ipers at £20 each.  ;)

Well, the local fuel injection specialists are currently knocking up some new steel fuel lines for the car, I'm sure they will have the kit to rescue my siezed nipple... and I will even get some photos of the pair of them* on here soon!

There a bit of as wine, the bleed nipple usually corrodes to the seat as well as the threads and its te seat that actually creates the seal  :y
