annoying door lock
« on: 02 July 2016, 19:10:16 »

did the c/l motor this afternoon & was not easy. I got it all back & tried it before door card replacement & all seemed to be working though when I attempted to open the door it wouldn't budge. the rod from door handle had come adrift. my fault I didn't clip it back to the door. once rod back & clipped to door I tried it multiple times & all was working as it should. next on with door card. locked the doors & found although all doors open & shutting the door with the new motor will not open from in or out. that ruddy rod I guess must be off again.  sick as a parrot.

it is opening from inside but not from out. it deems to be the rod from door down to lock mechanism. it is just a pig to have to do it again.

I need to do one of mine today, if my back will hold out for long enough.

Took mine apart yesterday to cure a "feature" it had aquired that meant you had to lean on the door whilst unlocking it with the key to get it to latch the handle properly.  Transpires they crimp the gear that does all the work onto the axle spliney-muh-thingy rather than weld it, so with the first bit of rust it comes loose. Have superglued it back together and it works fine now.  (Not before having to re-assemble it twice for forgetting to locate the fourth rod in the socket that the outside door handle uses to actuate the lock.  ::) (the clippy one from above is the key actuator rod))  :y

daren't say now how long it took me. but at 35mins start to finish he would have done all 4 doors + boot before I managed to get the power supply from the motor, I could do with a diagram of rod location. I know the long one from interior handle to lock is right, but outside door handle & rod going down to lock is not right ( done something wrong there ) though remote is definitely working.

I have two , one on a bendy spring, in my case on reassemble  I had not inserted the door handle rod that has the plastic bullet on the end which is meant to push into a green plastic insert on the lock. all done now.  ;) :y
