auto box malfunction
« on: 15 August 2016, 14:52:27 »

I was reversed into by a merc earlier today, with no apparent damage to my omega.  However once i drove away I got an Automatic Gearbox fault, and it appears to be in some sort of limp home mode.  It will not engage sport or winter modes either, i've checked all the fuses and relays are not loose, but am now stuck for ideas, and help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. :y

You ideally need to get any trouble codes read from the automatic gearbox ECU. There are a few of us with Tech 2s around the country who can do this, or a main dealer can probably help - at a price.

Do the lights to the side of the gear lever still follow the position of the lever accurately? Thinking the jolt could have disturbed the selector linkage. Another thing to check is that the 3 large round connectors just behind the battery are securely plugged into each other. I'm struggling to think of anything else that might have come adrift in the jolt. I assume it's not leaking transmission fluid underneath?

My best hunch is that the selector linkage has been knocked out of alignment, but certainly get it on the Tech 2 and see exactly what it's complaining about. :y

Hi Kevin.  Just had another go at the relays and fuses under the bonnet, and a few felt a bit loose, pushed them all in and the gearbox now works fine.  Thanks again for your help.  Says something about the strength of the old bus, her Mercedes bumper was in tatters, and my front bumper has a minor paint scuff.
