Insurance
« on: 15 August 2016, 14:22:56 »

I'm looking at insuring the MV6. Looking in t'internet all the comparison sites and also main insurers sites ask for address and contact details. Now of course, much of this info is needed in order to come up with pricing. My concern however is that I'll be bombarded with crap and calls if I don't buy.

Any suggestions about which sites will simply provide a quote and leave it at that ? In the past I've always used a broker, but I just want to see if doing things this way is actually cheaper and/or better.

Read the tick boxes carefully, make sure you tick the right ones. Some say tick here to not be contacted, others say tick here to be contacted.  :(

I've recently done loads and not had any calls or emails  :y

Aviva seemed OK. £206. Not bad i thought. Enormously less than when I left her in Lahndaan.

Just need to decide if I want to insure two cars. A bit extravagant, but otherwise it's just sitting there.

I tried two comparison sites when ours was last due.....I got 32 searches on my credit file. Not the type potential lenders see, but still annoying that they assume you are going to pay monthly and, therefore, they check your credit rating.

Avoid City Insurance Group. They think it's acceptable practice to make you wait five weeks for a refund upon cancellation of a policy! And then don't even pay it then! Tossers.  >:(

Interesting. I tried them. £316 for exactly the same cover as Aviva. BUT, I noticed that they somehow saw that I had other insurance with them, so maybe some sort of deal thing.

Anyway, I still need to justify keeping the car. Heart says keep it. Head says get rid of it. Mrs also has an old Volvo 940. Kind of hard to justify running 3 big estates. But . . . . .  :-\

That goes for them all these days. You will get shafted if you need to make a claim, cancel or change anything, have the audacity to decide to go abroad, etc..
