Is it advisable to drive a 2.6 that has a leaking oil cooler?

Going to look at a 2.6 omega today, it is 65 miles away and has a leaking oil cooler. No water in oil but oil in water.
Could the car be driven back home or would it need to be trailered?

I am thinking that as long as I keep the oil toped up, it should be ok to drive, or am i misssing something.

Probably means the radiator core is full of emulsified oil/gunge and won't work, as well as many small internal cooling paths. High risk of either a full overheat or localised overheats causing massive further problems .. thinking head gasket for one, water pump for another (its not designed to pump sludge) ...

Having spent well over a week doing a very large number of flushes to clean out a mates system that had an oil cooler failure, which surprised me how long it took even with high strength detergent in it,  .. I wouldn't risk it.

I had the oil cooler replaced a few years ago on a 2.6 auto (was guilty of not using the recommended coolant for a number of years before the event) - was lucky in my ignorance at the time I think.Should the same happen again, would err on the side of caution and not drive it until the oil cooler had been replaced .

It will drive fine, but be prepared to make several stops if it approaches anywhere near 100C on gauge.  You'll likely need a lot of water.

Once home, it will need very extensive flushing - several times a day for 2 or 3 weeks.

Personally over a 65 mile run, I would drive it, just dont hammer it, fairly cool Weather at the moment so a off peak time Motorway or Dual Carriage way run at 55mph max would be ideal.

Take some water on the journey, just in case and be prepared to stop here and there if it does start to get hot.
