rover 25
« on: 23 February 2017, 21:49:37 »

I posted about a rover 25 1.4 that was slightly overheating when it was reaching speed of 55 -60mph and showing normal when dropping it to 50. it did turn out to be the h/g so I intended to attempt it myself ,at the same time doing a timing belt, water pump plus thermostat . I did put the feelers out to see if local garages were interested & all said no. reason given they all said they have done them before or heard of somebody doing the job , then a few weeks later having it returned with a blown h/g, I ended up googleing & end up with a mg- rover workshop in Derby that would send a mechanic up to York. Steve they called him & he arrived at 7.10 am. I pulled it into a neighbours garage (he intended to it on my drive ) that had lights. I gave him a cuppa & left him to it. ( he wanted no help ) my wife made another drink at 9.20 so I took him one. the engine was running . he said just getting it up to temperature & then he was finished. I got it back on my drive at 10.10am. my rover has since had trips to Portsmouth a round trip of approx. 500mls each trip. today I spotted an omega tdi which I put a deposit on it & he.s allowing me a fair part exchange on the rover. pick up the td on wed 1/3/17 . the td has always been to the dealers for servicing, mot,s repairs etc . all paperwork with it. very tidy too .  :y
