Not used that set. Remind us, why do you need a head set? The HG on the 3.2 is pretty robust... Or is this the car with the bent valves? :-\

Yeah motor with bent valves. I'm only just getting round to it now. Heads are out and ready to take the valves out.

Fair enough. Not teaching you to suck eggs but make sure you check it all, including the guides, thoroughly.

I would suggest not skimping... Mr DTM gives good advice on these things ;)

I'm kind of leaning towards the more expensive option tbh. I wouldn't buy the cheaper one unless someone can advise me that it's so a similar quality.
Once I get the heads opened up I'll be giving them a thorough going over and I've already got another set lined up just incase I need them. Getting spare time to do it in is the hardest bit!

Used that supplier for years without any significant issues at all.

Thanks Marks Dtm. Peace of mind knowing that's someone else has used it.

Biggriffin the extra £20 is for the head bolts.

Just a few pointers (now I have a few more minutes to type):

1) The exhaust manifold gaskets in the kit are utter rubbish, the correct ones are a multilayer steel gasket so either re-use the old ones if they are ok or seek out the correct ones.

2) Re-use the crank shaft seals, they will be fine if fitted correctly.

3) Don't bother with the new inlet gaskets, there pretty rubbish and the originals will be fine.

4) The cam cover gaskets can be a bit hit and miss.

5) I did have a one off bad experience with the head bolts, three snapped but, they happily replaced them and supplied new head gaskets to.

With the heads off its the perfect opportunity to re-seal the oil cooler cover to block plate without risking knackering the threads to the oil cooler.

Once again Marks Dtm thanks. All advice is much appreciated, this is all new to me, I've not done anything like this b4 but the car was bought as a hobby and I'm enjoying it so far. Putting it all back together could be a different story :-[

I bought a Reinz head set and bolts from AllGermanParts for £115 early last year.

Okay guys, waiting on a final price for the gasket set but I picked up 2 replacement heads this evening. The heads that I took out of the motor were stamped 2b and 2c. The replacements are stamped 1c and 1d, is this going to be a problem?
