Would not scrap my Omega for £2k as old as it is, it does 4000 miles a year, the emissions from building a new car would be far greater.
So I am being really enviromentally friendly and keeping my car as long as possible, it is the green thing to do.

Mike

Oh yes, how are they going to fund this one then ?
Never a truer thing said all us lot that keep older cars on the road should be applauded and rewarded by the government for doing our bit in limiting emissions, not punished  >:(

I've come to the conclusion that global warming is caused by alll the hot air being expended in Whitehall and Brussles.
Get rid of that lot and all our problems will go away ;)

Bet you any money the "grand" comes in the form of a discount voucher for a bloody lime green toyota prius, or some other steaming pile of cack.
If they just gave you the bucks, whats to stop you scrapping a 2.5 & spending a grand on a 3.0.

yup-mines worth less than 500.
as someone has already said, you could make a living out of buying them and scrapping them.
they currently pay illegal immigrants a similar amount to go home apparently, and from what i,ve read they are soon on a plane back here to repeat the process -if you cant beat ,em - join ,em. ;) ;D

ironically, even the worst 2nd hand gas guzzler is more environmentally friendly than a new car - especially the Toyota Pious - the energy used in making these outweighs the energy in an equivalent non-hybrid and you wouldnt even USE this energy buying a car thats been made 10yrs ago. and dont get me started on the damage the smelter they use to produce the batteries causes to the environment

typical politicians - didnt want to know about the environment until its too late - now they can't wait to be seen to be green without even looking at the problem with a modicum of intelligence...I know - lets use BIOFUEL!!! instead of feeding the world's hungry - lets use these crops to fuel cars and make some Americans in SUV's feel a little bit better about themselves!!!

... Except France is where this crazy idea originated, and it's already happening there...

 :(

Still, once all their decent cars are scrapped (won't take long) there'll be even more fun to be had dispatching their shopping trolleys on all the 2 mile straights on their "D" roads.  :y
